These new affordable homes in North London reference the neighbouring period villas and update the typology with a modern twist.

St Johns Grove

The ground and lower ground floors are given over to a pair of duplex units, with the lower ground floor lit by a series of lightwells behind the pavement line.

Entry to the apartments above and behind is from St Johns Grove, through a secure gated area. Upon entry the route leads into a courtyard, with further units accessed at ground floor and a cylindrical stair and lift core taking residents to the homes on the upper floors.

Internally, elevations are lit from above in the courtyard, there are no habitable rooms directly overlooking across it. Each dwelling is dual aspect.

A communal roof garden to one half of the southerly block is proposed. The other half is given over to large arrays of solar pv cells. Each array is orientated south to generate the maximum amount of renewable energy available.
